Inspiring Outdoor Activities with Persil Wild Explorers

Persil Collage 1Since I sometimes find it a little tricky to come up with fresh play ideas for Caterpillar I’m always looking for tools to offer a helping hand. With this in mind I was really pleased to hear about Persil’s new campaign – #dirtisgood and the accompanying app – Wild Explorers.

Although there is plenty to do during the summer months in our local area, very few activities are totally free of charge. This app generates dozens of ideas for fun and simple activities you can do with your children no matter what your location or what their age. It’s a great way to get children interested in nature and – best of all – everything is completely free.

The app is really simple to use. Once downloaded to your phone or tablet you simply enter how long you would like to play for, the age of your child and the type of location (woods, coast etc) and hit search. A list is then generated of a whole host of imaginative suggestions to try from simple developmental and sensory ideas like counting colours in your garden and hugging a tree to study it’s texture, to more involved tasks like planting seeds or building bird or bug habitats.

Persil Collage 2Persil developed the app with experts from wildlife organisations and I love the year-round fun you can have. There are so many different options, and it’s suitable for all seasons too, so you can keep using it for many months. You can even track how much outdoor fun you’re having if you’re feeling particularly diligent.

Caterpillar and I have already tried out Bark Rubbing, Tree Hugs, Wild Art and Rock Pets. When this gorgeous weather decides to break (in England it’s only a matter of time, right?) we’re looking forward to trying Fun In The Rain and Make A Mud Volcano too.  Other activities include Toy WildTime, Rain Paintings, Ice Decorations, Mini Wildlife Pond, Camouflage Experiments, Dandelion Invisible Ink and dozens more.

Persil8There’s something to suit all children and the age range is two to 12. So if you’re looking for free activities to get the kids outdoors and out from under your feet for the remainder of the holiday and beyond, check out the Wild Explorers app (available at Apple and Google Play). Plus, you can join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram too by sharing your pics under the hashtag #dirtisgood

  1. This sounds like one incredible app. I believe that getting your children out into nature is the best thing you can do for them. Anything which encourages families to get outdoors is wonderful #EatSleepBlogRT
